A Docker container that exposes a Wiki.js instance as an MCP (Model Context Protocol) server via SSE (Server-Sent Events).

This allows AI assistants like https://claude.ai to read and write pages in your Wiki.js instance.

How it works

The container runs https://pypi.org/project/wikijs-mcp/ (a Python MCP server for Wiki.js) and exposes it as an HTTP/SSE endpoint with built-in OAuth 2.0 authentication.

Quick Start

The MCP server is then available at http://localhost:3301/sse.

Environment Variables

OAUTH_CLIENT_SECRET is a value you choose yourself — pick anything you like.

Getting a Wiki.js API Key

1. Open your Wiki.js admin panel
2. Go to Administration → API Access
3. Create a new API key with the required permissions
4. Copy the key and pass it as WIKIJS_API_KEY

Exposing to the Internet (required for Claude.ai)

Claude.ai's backend servers make outbound requests to your MCP server. If your server runs at home (behind a residential ISP), these requests may never arrive — many ISPs and routers silently block inbound connections from cloud infrastructure.

The recommended workaround is the built-in Cloudflare quick tunnel: set TUNNEL_ENABLED=1 and the container starts cloudflared itself, fetches a public https://*.trycloudflare.com URL and automatically uses it for OAuth discovery — no separate *** container and no EXTERNAL_URL maintenance:

After starting, get the current public URL from the /url endpoint (or the logs):

Note: The quick tunnel URL changes every time the container restarts — fetch the new URL from /url and update the claude.ai connector. For a permanent URL, create a https://developers.cloudflare.com/cloudflare-one/connections/connect-apps with a free Cloudflare account (requires your own domain) and set it as EXTERNAL_URL instead (an explicit EXTERNAL_URL always wins over the built-in tunnel URL).

Connect to Claude

All Claude clients (web, desktop app, mobile) use the same URL — no separate OAuth login required:

Claude.ai (Web, Desktop App, Mobile)

1. Go to Settings → Connectors → Add Custom Connector
2. Fill in the fields:
   • Name: anything, e.g. WikiJS
   • Remote MCP Server URL: https://abc-xyz-123.trycloudflare.com/sse?token=YOUR_OAUTH_CLIENT_SECRET
3. Click Save — connects immediately, no browser login required

Leave the OAuth Client ID and OAuth Client Secret fields in the connector UI e***y — authentication is handled via the ?token= parameter in the URL.

Once connected, the MCP server provides tools to:

• Search pages in your wiki
• Read page content
• Create new pages
• Update existing pages
• Delete pages
• List pages and folders
