Publishing lm-sensors temperature data via MQTT The HOST environment variable defines the target MQTT broker and is the only mandatory field. The MQTT topic will be the combination of the prefix / topic, where the payload is going to be the temperature value of the computer. The TOPIC will be derived primarily from the environment variable, and when absent from the socket.gethostname()or the /etc/hostnamefile.

How to deploy

docker run -d \
   --name sensors \
   --restart=unless-stopped \
   -e TOPIC="$HOSTNAME" \
   -e MQTTBROKER='your-mqtt-broker.domain.com' \
emporer/lm-sensors2mqtt:latest

Docker Swarm Deployment

The tricky part is the hostname to support proper mapping of the nodes. This can be achieved by mounting the /etc/hostnamefile locally:

   --mount type=bind,src=/etc/hostname,dst=/etc/hostname,readonly\

Optional Environment Variables

• -e PREFIX="your-mqtt-prefix" default is "lm-sensors"
• -e FREQUENCY=120 for 120 sec, default is 60 seconds
• -e PROBE="Package id 0" to select different feature/temperature source, default is "temp1"
