AWS CI/CD Docker Image

This project holds the Docker image definition for allowing CI/CD operations to be carried out for AWS projects.

The Docker image currently contains the following tools:

• awscli (v2.17.46)
• aws samcli (v1.123.0)
• s3cmd (v2.4.0)

Usage

You can test build the image on your local machine by executing the following commands (assuming you have Docker installed locally).

    # docker build -t buildimage .

Validating

You should then be able to validate any changes you've made to the Docker image using the following commands (or something like them). Note: Here we are mounting your local AWS credentials into the Docker image.

  # cd <your/project/directory>
  # docker run -it \
      -v $HOME/.aws/credentials:/home/builder/.aws/credentials \
      -v $PWD:/build \
      -e NPM_TOKEN=${NPM_TOKEN} \
      buildimage /bin/bash

  [from here we are inside the docker container]

  # aws sts get-caller-identity
  # aws --region eu-west-2 cloudformation list-stacks --output text
  # ...
  # sam build
  # ...
  # other validation commands

Deploying

Once you have validated your changes you can push the code up to the Idwal BitBucket account, which will trigger an automated DockerHub build which in turn will make it available to the various build environments.
