Docker Alpine Squid

A Squid Docker image:

• lightweight image based on Alpine Linux only 8 MB,
• multiarch with support of amd64 and arm64,
• non-root container user,
• automatically updated by comparing software bill of materials (SBOM) changes,
• image signed with Cosign,
• a software bill of materials (SBOM) attestation added using Syft,
• available on Docker Hub and Quay.io.

Running the Squid proxy

shell
docker run -d --rm --name squid -p 3128:3128 jfxs/alpine-squid

or

shell
docker run -d --rm --name squid -p 3128:3128 quay.io/ifxs/alpine-squid

The configuration of Squid is the default one, with some additions:

/etc/squid/squid.conf

/etc/squid/conf.d/squid-docker.conf

http_access allow all
# Specific configuration for Docker usage

Docker latest tag is 7.3.0-003, 7.3, 7 and has:

Versioning

Docker tag definition:

• the Squid version used,
• a dash
• an increment to differentiate build with the same version starting at 001

text
<squid_version>-<increment>

Example: 5.7.0-003
