This image will post weekly discussion topics to ***/r/headphones based on rules set in /etc/bot-wrangler/bot.py.

Making the container generic enough to provide multiple bot scripts is still a work in progress. Hell, this whole thing is still a work in progress.

The bot will do the following:

1. Find the last submission that was used to poll for topics and select the top 11 top level comments.
2. The top comment will be treated as the winning product and be used to generate a new discussion post.
3. A new poll submission will be created and the next 10 highest comments from the previous poll will be added.

Setup

1) cron schedule

The schedule to run bot.py in is defined using a cron file /etc/cron.d/bots at is "0 0 * * SAT" by default.It can be updated using:

docker exec bot-wrangler bash -c "echo '0 0 * * SAT cd /etc/bot-wrangler && python bot.py' >> /etc/cron.d/bots"

2) bot.py

A bot.py needs to be provided by you. The easiest way to do this is to map /etc/bot-wrangler/ to your host and add a bot.py to the directory. It will be run based on the cron schedule in the previous step.

3) praw.ini

A https://praw.readthedocs.io/en/stable/getting_started/configuration/prawini.html is usally helpful to have in /etc/bot-wrangler/praw.ini since praw can use it to manage account settings. A simple one might look something like this:

4) run

docker run --volume //c//bots/bot-wrangler:/etc/bot-wrangler bot-wrangler
